Kickstarting Creativity: The Double Fine Adventure Continues

If you guys have no clue what this is, hop on the bandwagon! Or, to make it easier, just refer to either mine or Vin's previous articles. For those of you who know what the real deal is right now with Double Fine and 2 Player Productions, the fun has just started.

Double Fine Productions, a studio that has officially begun its newest project a few days ago, Double Fine Adventure (name to be determined later) has raised $3,336,371 - a whopping 834% of what they originally asked for, which was $400,000 in total. All of this comes from a nifty site called Kickstarter.com - a site where people like you and I can start an idea and have people donate to your idea. It can be anything from videogames to movies to inventions... anything and everything.

Tim Schafer, the mastermind behind Double Fine Adventure wanted to cut out publishers altogether and use the fans help with the fundraising, but it doesn't stop there. Once you donate, you're a backer, and when you're a backer, you now have a say in everything that's going to go down in this game - simply, you're teaming up with Double Fine Productions. And if you think the fan base was small, you're dead wrong. Amounting to a ridiculous 87,142 sponsors, from people that donated as little as $15 to those who donated $50,000, the voices were heard and now the fun begins.

So what are they up to now? They're just getting all the forums set up, the email databases, and to those who did donate, there will be a video update coming in tomorrow, but for the rest of us, we just kick back and enjoy the ride.

If you ever want to hop on and see what the guy are up to, click on the link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/double-fine-adventure - It's a live stream of what's going on in the studio.

To check out the updates, check out www.doublefine.com and keep up to date while a bunch of dorky guys try to organize themselves and get this party started.
